Moonlight Hike -- FULL

THIS EVENT IS FULL.

Try on a pair of snowshoes and get a tour of the woods at night! Guided by the light of the moon, girls will be on the look out for nocturnal animals then warm up with a cup of hot cocoa in the lodge afterwards. Girls will receive a winter hiking fun patch at this event.This event will happen, snow or no snow! If there is no snow, girls will still get a demonstration of how snowshoes work, but the actual hike will happen in regular boots. Go on a scavenger hunt through the store and make a nutritious and tasty meal upstairs in the Club Room. Downhill Adventure -- CANCELLED

THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED.

Let’s hit the slopes! Skiing and snowboarding are exciting winter activities that can be quickly learned and enjoyed for a lifetime. This is a great opportunity for your troop or family to have a fun adventure, learn a new sport, and enjoy the outdoors. Must be 9 years old or older.Any youth under 18 will not be able to ski or snowboard without a Parental Permission Form for Girl Scout Activities signed by a parent or guardian. The signed form must be sent to Korissa Prine in the Dubuque office at least 48 hours prior to the event.

Lessons are offered at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. You can choose which lesson time they would like to attend. Open skiing/snowboarding is available before and after lessons from 4-9 p.m.

Prices:

Lift Pass & Helmet: $20 for children & adults
Lift Pass, Ski Rental, Group Lesson, & Helmet: $25 for children & adults
Lift Pass, Snowboard Rental, Group Lesson, & Helmet: $31 for children & adults

Photographer -- FULL

A picture is worth a thousand words! Learn photography basics and enhance your skills, then enjoy practicing. Experiment with different lighting and angles like never before, then discover how to digitally edit photos. Girls will complete the steps towards the Digital Photographer badge. Scouts are strongly encouraged to bring their own camera (or phone with camera) so that they can gain experience using their own equipment. Super Sitter -- CANCELLED

Girls age 12 and above are invited to this abbreviated babysitting course led by the Red Cross. Whether your girl is getting ready to babysit for the first time or has already started, girls will learn safety and leadership tips to become the best babysitter they can be. This is NOT the official Red Cross certification course, but is rather an abbreviated portion to give girls the beginning skills. Girls will learn more about taking the full course at the event. Girl Scouts & Hawkeye Women's Basketball

Come cheer on the University of Iowa Women’s Basketball team. Girls will meet the head coaches of this incredible team! They can also participate in a trivia with fun Hawkeye prizes. Girls can make their own posters and go through a cheer clinic to use during the game. Activities at the game will be fully confirmed closer to game day. Clay Creations

Get creative with clay! Girls will discover many things made of clay. They will explore the potter’s studio and create their very own clay masterpiece. Brownies will complete all the steps to earn the Potter badge which they will receive at the event.

Fly Like an Eagle Overnight

Learn about the American bald eagle, other wild animals and where they live as you work on the new Fly Like an Eagle council patch and the Girl Scout Junior Animal Habitats Badge. View live eagles near the Mississippi River from the Program Center’s third floor outdoor overlook. Learn how the environment impacts the survival of wild animals. Create an edible bird’s nest or beaver’s lodge. Get crafty. Compare your arm’s reach to an eagle’s wing span and watch a late night movie, as you “nest” in your sleeping bag.

Bring a sleeping bag/blanket, pillow, sleepwear, and tolietries. Flashlight and water bottle are optional.

This overnight event starts at 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 17, 2015, and ends at 10:00 am on Sunday, January 18, 2015.

Join us to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. day the right way! Troops and girls will select how they spend their day of service from predetermined projects in the greater Cedar Rapids community. Get creative with clay! Girls will discover many things made of clay. They will explore the potter’s studio and create their very own clay masterpiece. Brownies will complete all the steps to earn the Potter badge which they will receive at the event.

Sewing Pals -- FULL

Breathe new life into old scraps of clothing while making your very own stuffed friend! Get lots
of practice hand sewing your own doll that can be used as a decoration or a gift. With Valentine’s day coming up, you may even want to make it for a special loved one in your life.

In the event we reach maximum capacity for this event, we will still accept registrants as long as there is one adult for every three additional girls. An Evening with Romeo & Juliet

The timeless tradition of classical Russian ballet comes to life in this full-length piece based on Shakespeare’s tragic love story. Girls will enjoy acting out the story, a curtain talk pre-show discussion, a snack, the performance of Romeo & Juliet by the National Russian Ballet, and a backstage tour.

Downhill Adventure

Let’s hit the slopes! Skiing and snowboarding are exciting winter activities that can be quickly learned and enjoyed for a lifetime. This is a great opportunity for your troop or family to have a fun adventure, learn a new sport, and enjoy the outdoors. Must be 9 years old or older.Any youth under 18 will not be able to ski or snowboard without a Parental Permission Form for Girl Scout Activities signed by a parent or guardian. The signed form must be sent to Korissa Prine in the Dubuque office at least 48 hours prior to the event.

Lessons are offered at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. You can choose which lesson time they would like to attend. Open skiing/snowboarding is available before and after lessons from 4-9 p.m.

Prices:

Lift Pass & Helmet: $20 for children & adults
Lift Pass, Ski Rental, Group Lesson, & Helmet: $25 for children & adults
Lift Pass, Snowboard Rental, Group Lesson, & Helmet: $31 for children & adults
