Cadette Media Series

Girls will learn how media affects their lives every day in this four part series. During the series, girls will explore their relationship and view of media, discover the stereotypes displayed and how they effect young girls today, connect with their communities through surveys, and Take Action by remaking a piece of media of their choosing. This is a four part series and will take place on April 2, 9, 16 and 23 from 6-8 p.m. Register online.

Artist Overnight

Roll out your sleeping bags and spend the night at the Iowa Children’s Museum. Girls will get active as they discover new, fun ways to play music and dance. Girls will complete all the steps to earn a badge.  Brownies will earn their Painting badge and Juniors earn their Drawing badge. There will also be time to play, learn and explore in the museum before or after the sleep over. Windy City Adventure

Explore all that the Windy City has to offer with Chicago’s City Pass. Girls will vote and choose what we explore from attractions like the Shedd Aquarium, Skydeck Chicago, Field Museum, Adler Planetarium and more. We will eat at famous restaurants like Ed Debevic’s and spend the night at the Girl Scout Friendship Center. Register online.

The cost of the trip includes motor coach transportation, meals in Chicago, lodging, and all admission fees. Not included in cost is spending money and meals during travel. Girls and adults will need to supply their own sleeping bags.

Between Earth and Sky Journey Series

Daisies will join their flower friends for a cross-country road trip during this three session series at the Family Museum! Girls will learn how to talk about their interests and feelings with their Daisy sisters. They will experiment with seeds, stones, and water; and brainstorm their very own project to care for the earth. They will complete all the activities to earn all three awards from the Between Earth and Sky Journey.

Girls will be trained in the Frog Watch USA program where they learn to identify frogs by their calls and report the data to help develop conservation strategies. Lifesavers- FULL

Save a life. Girls will learn how to perform CPR and use an AED. Training is based on the American Heart Association’s guidelines and will include adult, child, and infant CPR, rescue breathing (with and without a mask), choking for all ages and the use of an automated external defibrillator. Passport to the Czech Republic

Czech this out! The country of Czech Republic is only 20 years old but the history and culture are deep and vivid. Spend the evening in the Cedar Rapids Czech Village at this fifth in a series of Passport Programs. Girls will learn a traditional Circle Dance, make a cloth doll called Mórena who can help make winter into spring and eat authentic Czech food. Archery Facilitator Training

Have you wanted to take your troop to camp and wanted to take advantage of using the Archery Course? Have you wanted to share your love of this activity with other troops and leaders? Cadette Day with Lou Henry Hoover- CANCELED

Lou Henry Hoover was very important to the founding and growth of the Girl Scouts of America. Come join us for a day filled with exploration and learning about the life of Lou Henry Hoover and her husband President Herbert Hoover.  Throughout the day you will meet all of the requirements of the Lou Henry Hoover badge through museum tours, games, talks, and hands on activities with the National Park Service.  Girls will be awarded the Lou Henry Hoover badge at the end of the day.  They will also receive a special guide book to log their experience and track their badge progress. Take Center Stage at Circa '21

Join us at Circa ’21 Dinner Playhouse for our production of TALES OF A
FOURTH GRADE NOTHING and participate in our Girl Scout Workshop.
Participants will enjoy four different theatre based workshop sessions. This event is for Brownies and Daisies and includes a Circa ‘21 Theatre Workshop Patch.

Get Moving: Investigate Award Workshop

Get Moving! With the experts at the ATEEC Learning Lab. Girls will explore the lab and learn about energy use in buildings, how to work with their families to make energy improvements at home, and investigate energy use in a community building and suggest ways to make improvements. Girls will also get to explore the exhibits as they learn about energy, biofuels, green energy, solar power, and wind power! HeartSaver CPR and First Aid-CANCELED

THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELED.

This CPR and First Aid course is based on American Heart Association guidelines and will focus on one-person adult, child and infant CPR, use of the Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) and choking. Volunteers will also be trained in emergency first aid procedures for use in the case of accidents or sudden illness. This certification class will meet the Girl Scout requirements for first aid and CPR.

Annual Meeting and Volunteer Celebration

Living with Laura

Laura Ingles Wilder was an author who was inspired by her daughter to write about her live as a pioneer girl. Join the experts at Usher’s Ferry to learn about Laura and life as a pioneer. The day will include an overview of Laura’s life and several hands-on sessions that relate to passages from the books.
