It's Your Story-Tell It! Virtual Journey Series

Girls will interact with other girls and adult experts to complete an entire Girl Scout Journey online! Girls will participate in a safe environment with other Girl Scouts, participate in video webinars to hear from expert presenters, and explore activities through weekly “checkpoints” designed to guide them through the Journey series Its Your Story-Tell It! Girls will complete the Journey for their age level. Girls must be 13 or older to participate, sign the Internet Safety Pledge, and use a personal e-mail account (not a parent’s). Other requirements include reliable Internet access, a webcam, and a microphone. Price includes the age level appropriate Journey book, access to our closed on-line community, and a flash drive to save all their checkpoint information. Downhill Adventure

Let’s hit the slopes! Skiing and snowboarding are exciting winter activities that can be quickly learned and enjoyed for a lifetime. This is a great opportunity for your troop or family to have a fun adventure, learn a new sport, and enjoy the outdoors. Must be 9 years old or older.Any youth under 18 will not be able to ski or snowboard without a Parental Permission Form for Girl Scout Activities signed by a parent or guardian. The signed form must be sent to Korissa Prine in the Dubuque office at least 48 hours prior to the event.

Lessons are offered at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. You can choose which lesson time they would like to attend. Open skiing/snowboarding is available before and after lessons from 4-9 p.m.

Prices:

Lift Pass & Helmet: $20 for children & adults
Lift Pass, Ski Rental, Group Lesson, & Helmet: $25 for children & adults
Lift Pass, Snowboard Rental, Group Lesson, & Helmet: $31 for children & adults

Fireside Chat Cedar Rapids

Join us for a fireside chat to learn about outdoor opportunities this summer. We will explore resident camp at Camp Little Cloud as well as outdoor adventures at Camp L-Kee-Ta, Camp Tahigwa and Camp Conestoga. We will also talk about volunteer led community day camps that will challenge and inspire girls. Constellation Extravaganza!

At this extravaganza, girls will have the opportunity to view constellations through the Witte Observatory’s telescope. Dance Divas

Move to the beat! Girls will learn fun warm ups and five different types of dances from the instructors at Fusion Dance & Fitness. They will even perform their new moves for their Girl Scout friends and complete all the steps to earn the Dance badge. Badges will be distributed to girls at the end of the event.

Paint After Dark -- CANCELLED

THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED.

Spend a fun filled night at the Discovery Depot and earn the Painting badge! As the sun goes down, girls will explore various ways to paint using some unusual materials like feathers or marbles. They will learn about some exciting artists and create a masterpiece of their very own. There will also be time to explore and play in the museum! Night at the Museum

Get ready for a night at the museum! Girls will get to explore all the Bettendorf Family Museum has to offer during this special after hours experience. When the lights go down, girls will roll out their sleeping bags for an unusual overnight experience. Snacks and breakfast will be provided.

Cedar Valley Girl Scout Way

Art comes to life at the Hearst Center for the Arts. Girls will get a tour of the art gallery, take a look inside a real pottery studio, make their own dish to take home, and make new friends that will become their Ceramic Sisters. Brownies will earn and receive their Pottery badge at this event.

Mask Makers

Masks aren’t just for Halloween! Masks have a long history in world culture and can express who we are and who we would like to be. Girls will create a mask of a character from a book or myth, or construct a mask of an original fantasy character. The only list is their imagination! Journey the World: Making It A Better Place

Our Journey of the World continues! Girls will explore people and cultures of over 40 countries at booths hosted by troops and community members. Girls will also discover how to make the world a better place with hands on learning opportunities based around community service and take action. Girls of every age level will have opportunities to participate in age-appropriate activities. Girls will receive a patch at this event.To get the early-bird rate, girls and adults must register prior to Thursday, February 5th, 2015 at midnight. Registration after this date will result in a price increase. If registering before February 5th, it is $8/girl and $6/adult. Meet the experts at the Animal Welfare Center. Girls will learn about dog bite safety, how to read dog body language, and how to pick the right pet for their family. Check out the microcosmic world of bugs! Girls will participate in a hissing cockroach race, learn about the metamorphosis of butterflies, and view Bugs 3D: A Rainforest Adventure on the giant screen. Brownies will complete all the steps to earn the Bugs badge.

Mari & Rosie Change the World

Join our flower friends, Mari and Rosie, on a mission to change the world! Girls will hear the stories and participate in games and challenges that will teach them the meaning of being responsible and making the world a better place. Girls will earn the Mari and Rosie petals at this event.

Please do not drop girls off at this event. Each group or individual girl must have a troop leader or parent present and each adult must register in advance with the girls.

Grease Monkeys

Be car smart! This program will familiarize the new driver with what to look for when purchasing a vehicle. Girls will learn how to ‘listen’ to their vehicle to maintain it, how to avoid vehicle theft, and how to not be a distracted driver. Seniors will earn their Car Care badge.
