Get your dance on! We’ll spin music all evening while you dance and get glammed up. Find your healthy glow with snacks that are sure to please, and travel to different “Be-You-ty” stations to accessorize the awesome person you already are. All girls in grades K-3 girls are welcome. Daring to Live and Lead with Purpose Leadership Conference

Join the Women’s Connection for the Daring to Live and Lead with Purpose Leadership Conference.

Be purposeful about your future and reserve half of your day to attend this leadership conference to discover or develop your leadership skills. Internationally renowned speakers will inspire you to take on the challenge of leadership and use your best assets to lead others.

Conference kicks off with networking opportunities prior to the breakfast. Throughout the day, vendors will display their products and services, giving you a chance to meet new women and make new connections.

“Daring to Live and Lead with Purpose” is expected to attract 400 current and aspiring leaders from throughout the region. Girl Scouts of Eastern Iowa and Western Illinios is a proud partner of this event.

Old Fort Overnight

Take a step back in time. Experience candle making and blacksmith demonstrations and what life was like on the prairie in the 1800s. Historians will teach girls about historical mysteries to be uncovered. Girls will get to spend the night in the Old Fort and gain outdoor skills as they prepare dinner over an open fire. Girl Scout University

THIS EVENT IS FULL.

Girl Scouts head to college! The APO Scouting Organization offers its annual Girl Scout University on the campus of the University of Iowa for girls in grades 2-12. Girls will be earning Skill Builder and Legacy badges from the Girl Scout National Program Portfolio:

Brownies: My Best Self, Dancer, and Pets

Juniors: Staying Fit, Musician, and Digital Photography

Cadettes: Eating for Beauty, Babysitting, and Digital Movie Maker

Seniors: Troupe Performer and Women’s Health

Ambassadors: Coaching and First Aid

The event runs from 9 am- 3 pm with a lunch break from 11:30-12:30. The girls are responsible for bringing their own lunches. If they wish to leave the buildings, they must be accompanied by adults to meet ratio.

Parking will be on your own, see the map of campus parking available. You are also responsible for paying for parking.

Check-in begins at 8:30 am at Schaeffer Hall.

Sycamore Mall is holding its first “Ten Dollar Challenge Fashion Event, Costume Edition.” Fashion Challenge will include girls creating looks from items in Sycamore Mall Dollar Tree. Girls will have one hour to put assemble an entirely original look and showcase their designs on the runway. Complimentary hair and makeup from: Great Clips, Style America, and Sally Beauty Supply. During this overnight, girls will wear costumes and accessorize with props to become glamorous Hollywood movie stars. But the party will take a terror-filled turn when the red carpet is stained blood red. It will be up to the girls to solve the murder mystery.They will work in teams to complete challenges, collect clues and figure out who committed the crime. Grab your naturalist hat and get ready to know trees. Girls will earn their Trees legacy badge while learning to identify trees native to Iowa and the benefits they provide the wildlife. Visit some old and unusual trees and create your own tree legend. Discuss how people and trees interact and understand the issues surrounding forests and their protection.
