Brownies in Space

Brownies are invited to spend the evening learning about telescopes, binoculars, constellations and the solar system.  Moon phases, planets and stars will be seen using our many telescopes at the Observatory.  Be prepared for a night of discovery viewing the sky! Explore Locally

Community Spirit! Join Usher’s Ferry to celebrate what makes community special. Girls will explore community symbols, sing songs, learn how to march, and participate in a flag ceremony. Emergency Preparedness- CANCELED

THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELED.

Be prepared to step-up in an emergency! Girl Scouts have great leadership skills and during this event they will learn specific skills and techniques to help during safety and emergency situations. They will complete all the steps required to earn the First Aid badge as they work with local first responders and medical personnel. Boy Scouts will also be invited to participate in this event. Trekking Trails

Hiking is a fun adventure and fantastic exercise. Join us at to Indian Creek Nature Center to explore the trails with an expert hiker. Girls will learn to read a map, interpret trail signs, leave no trace and what to take on a hike. Robo Girls

In this six part series, girls will show off their technological and design skills by building a robot from the ground-up. From bolts & circuits to art and design, this program has something for every girl. Once the robots are completed they’ll be entered in UNI’s annual robot battle to duel it out with other robots from around the country. Register online.

This series will meet the first Saturday of each month from November to February from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. the overnight will take place from February 28 -March 1.

Rolling on the River

Visit the National Mississippi River Museum and Aquarium and sample the great activities they have to offer! Girls will get to see a variety of live animals who live on the river, make a craft and learn about the Port of Dubuque. GPS Fun! Join Indian Creek Nature Center experts and learn all about geocaching. Girls will learn how Global Positioning System (GPS) works, how to enter waypoints in a GPS receiver and search for a geocache. They should bring a small trade item to leave in the cache. Become History

Brownie Day with Lou Henry Hoover

Lou Henry Hoover was very important to the founding and growth of the Girl Scouts of America. Come join us for a day filled with exploration and learning about the life of Lou Henry Hoover and her husband President Herbert Hoover.  Throughout the day you will meet all of the requirements of the Lou Henry Hoover badge through museum tours, games, talks, and hands on activities with the National Park Service.  Girls will be awarded the Lou Henry Hoover badge at the end of the day.  They will also receive a special guide book to log their experience and track their badge progress. Cadette Media Series

Girls will learn how media affects their everyday lives in this four part series. During the series girls wil explore their relationship and view of media, discover the stereotypes displayed and how they effect young girls today, connect with their communities through surveys and visits to local media outlets, and Take Action by remaking a piece of media of their choosing. HeartSaver CPR and First Aid

This CPR and First Aid course is based on American Heart Association guidelines and will focus on one-person adult, child and infant CPR, use of the Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) and choking. Volunteers will also be trained in emergency first aid procedures for use in the case of accidents or sudden illness. Leadership Essentials equips leaders with information on how to lead girls to discover, connect and take action using all of the National Program Portfolio resources – Journeys, Girl’s Guide to Girl Scouting and Skill-Building badges. Get Moving! Calls on girls across the country and around the world to use their energy to protect Earth’s energy. The journey invites Juniors to engage their minds and hearts as they explore the many forms, uses, and misuses of energy throughout Cedar Rapids and the world. Virtual Journey Series Pilot

This special pilot program will help girls 13 and older achieve an entire Journey through online video hangouts and individual work at home. Save a life. Girls will learn how to perform CPR and use an AED. Girl Scout Night with the Waterloo Black Hawks

Come cheer on the Waterloo Black Hawks with your troop or family. Wear you Girl Scout uniform and participate in a meet and greet with the players after the game. The players will stick around for autographs and pictures. Registering for this event will reserve your tickets. Register online.
