Survivor: Conestoga

Ever wonder what it’s like to fend for yourself in the wilderness? During this overnight event, girls will practice skills like knot tying, fire starting, archery, and orienteering. Girls will use these skills in the morning to complete a series of mental and physical challenges throughout camp. What’s the catch? Girls will be completing these challenges while gaining points and avoiding detection from other teams. Game on! Register online.

Program Aide Basic Training: CON

When girls guide and teach others, they act as mentors. Girls will learn about the three keys to leadership, explore how the Girl Scout Leadership Experience relates to their everyday life and become inspired about how to serve as a leader in the world. Cadettes will learn about girl development, how to manage groups, program activities and how to keep girls safe during activities. Cadettes will learn how to take the next step in developing their new Program Aide leadership skills while using their own talents. Pre-requisite: Completed at least one semester of sixth grade.

Cadette Media Journey Series

During this four session journey, girls will work to complete their Cadette Media Journey.  This Journey help girls Discover, Connect and Take Action on issues related to stereotypes and how media influences them as girls today. The girls will hear from a Women’s Studies Media Professional, visit a news station to experience the media first hand and create their own media remake of a commercial, song, radio broadcast, etc, to send out a better message for girls today.  Girls will wrap up this series by presenting their projects to their family and friends! Wilderness Girls

Ever wondered what it’s like to fend for yourself in the wilderness? Think you could find shelter, make a fire and read a map to get back to civilization? Now is your chance to learn all about the wilderness, while all the comforts of camp are within easy reach! During this day-long event girls will become archers as they learn to shoot a target with a bow and arrow. They’ll also learn to safely start a fire, build furniture with rope and wood, and read a map to lead them through the “wilderness” of Camp L-Kee-Ta! Register online.

Outdoor Adventure Weekend- Tahigwa

Outdoor Adventure Weekends are two night camping experiences for troops and groups in which girls in second through 12th grades and their adult volunteers participate in a weekend full of fun and adventure. The council provides the site, sleeping facilities, well-balanced meals, project supplies and experienced instructors to deliver pre-planned activities.  Register for your indoor (space is limited) sleeping facility today. Register online.

Registration information:

Girl Scout leaders will be responsible for and in charge of their campers at all times. Minimum two adults per troop, Safety Activity Checkpoints ratios must be maintained (1:6 for Brownies, 1:8 for Juniors, 1:10 for Cadettes, and 1:12 for Seniors and Ambassadors). Additional adults will be accepted if space is available. Individual girls may attend with an adult.

Due to the nature of the program there is limited space especially for indoor units. Registration is accepted on a first come first serve basis.

Keep Burlington Beautiful

Show your support for the environment and Girl Scouts Forever Green by attending this Earth Day event. Girls will gather at the Port of Burlington to get their event t-shirts and supplies then head out to locations around Burlington and West Burlington to collect litter. This is a great community service opportunity to help our planet. A light lunch and entertainment at the Port of Burlington will follow the clean-up efforts. Program Aide Basic Training: LC

When girls guide and teach others, they act as mentors. Girls will learn about the three keys to leadership, explore how the Girl Scout Leadership Experience relates to their everyday life and become inspired about how to serve as a leader in the world. Cadettes will learn about girl development, how to manage groups, program activities and how to keep girls safe during activities. Cadettes will learn how to take the next step in developing their new Program Aide leadership skills while using their own talents. Pre-requisite: Completed at least one semester of sixth grade. Wonders of Water Overnight

Honoring Excellence

Across our council, girls are changing the world and this is a great opportunity for us to celebrate their achievements. This event will include an award ceremony, a performance by comedian and hypnotist Dan Ladd and a decadent dessert bar.

Honored girls include:

  • Bronze, Silver and Gold Award recipients (April 2012-March 2013)
  • Girl of Courage, Girl of Confidence, Girl of Character Scholarship recipients
  • Doneta Schaeffer Memorial Scholarship recipient
  • Girl Scouts graduating from high school this year

Formal invitations will be mailed to honorees in early March and will include instructions on how to RSVP.

Want to get an invite to Honoring Excellence? Be sure to submit your High Awards final report to HighAwards@GirlScoutsToday.org by March 1.

Girls can also be nominated for our council scholarships through March 1.
