Money Wise

Help girls get Money Wise! Staff at the Science Center will lead girls through activities to help make them smart shoppers. Girls will role play shopping, create, plan, and use a budget and discover the true difference between needs and wants. Girls will complete the Savvy Shopper badge. Basic Program Aide Workshop

Gain the tools, knowledge, and skills to work with younger girls and assist at program events and troop meetings. This workshop will include hands on training, a PA drawstring backpack, a PA binder with games, and lunch. Girls must be in 7th or 8th grade to participate in this September training. Adults are not required; adult fee includes lunch.This workshop is the first step girls can take to earn their Program Aide award. Details on how to finish earning the award are available online and at this training. Outdoor Program Aide Workshop

For girls who have taken the Basic Program Aide workshop, here is an optional second workshop designed just for outdoor skills! Knife safety, building a camp fire, and more will be covered to help prepare girls who want to assist at day camps and outdoor activities. Fee includes supplies and snacks. Girls must be in 7th or 8th grade to participate in this September training.Girls are required to have completed the Basic Program Aide workshop prior to taking the outdoor workshop. GPS Marks the Spot

It’s time for a treasure adventure! Girls will learn how to use a GPS (Global Positioning System) receiver and go on a technological trek to find caches hidden throughout Nahant Marsh. Girls will complete all the steps to earn the Geocacher badge and will receive it at the program.

Treasure Hunt -- FULL

THIS EVENT IS FULL.

Join us for a real life treasure hunt in the Seminole Valley. Using compasses and GPS (Global Positioning System), girls will find hidden treasures to take home and hide their own for future Girl Scouts to find. Wear comfortable clothing that may get dirty, please wear pants to avoid potential poison ivy. Brownies will complete all the steps for the Letterboxer badge. Juniors will complete all the steps for the Geocacher badge. The cost of the badge is not included in the program, badges may be purchased at any Girl Scout Leadership Center or online. Garden Takeover

Take in a garden using more than just your eyes! At this event, girls will use their ears, nose, hands, and taste buds. Taking place at the beautiful Cedar Valley Arboretum, our partners at Food Corps will guide girls into a world where all the senses play a part.

Eyes, Fingers, Ears and Nose

Discover nature using all five senses. Visit Indian Creek Nature Center and explore the outdoors using sight, sound, scent, textures, and tastes. Girls will participate in an exciting nature scavenger hunt, listen to nature sounds, sniff out some interesting smells, and feel the different textures found around the nature center. aMUSE Journey Weekend -- FULL

<h3><span style=”color: #ff0000;”>THIS EVENT IS FULL.</span></h3>Girls will have a blast exploring just how many roles are open to them in the world and the possibilities those roles open for them.  Girls will explore stereotypes, connect with women in their communities, and learn how to Take Action to make a difference as they travel through the entireUSE journey. Adults will have their own sessions and time to network with other adults as they explore all the options for girls as they advance in Girl Scouting.

Camping Adventure

Join us under the stars at Ushers Ferry for one last fall camping adventure before it gets too cold! Girls will learn a new skill, find their inner camp chef, take a nature hike, and gather around a campfire. A campfire snack and light breakfast are included in the fee of this event. Campers supply their own sleeping bags and tents. Girls and adults must have separate tents for sleeping. One adult per group must have Overnight Readiness Training. Who lives in your wild backyard? Girls will discover a variety of animal habitats at Indian Creek. They will explore animal homes and create their own bird feeder. Journey to Freedom

Imagine you are a Freedom Seeker – a runaway slave traveling on Iowa’s Underground Railroad. Girls will encounter slave owners, farmers, and abolitionists while trying to navigate their way to Canada. Will your group make it to freedom? Or will you be captured and sent back into slavery? Take a step back in time to experience perils and triumphs in this living-history event. A light snack will be provided but we recommend to bring a no trash sacked lunch. Zoo Takeover

Lions and tigers and bears, oh my! Bring your family and join your Girl Scout friends for a fun day at Niabi Zoo. Explore over 40 sprawling acres, home to over 330 animals representing more than 140 species from around the world. The zoo will be open to the public but there will be special activities just for Girl Scouts and their pre-registered family and friends!

Use your Family eBiz account to register your whole family online for this fun day! If family members are not registered by Thursday, September 18th, they will not get the Girl Scout price and will have to pay the full price admission rate! No exceptions.

This event is structured with group rotations from 10:30 am – 2:30 pm. There will be a time for lunch but no food provided. Feel free to bring sack lunches or coolers into the zoo. There will be concessions available for an additional cost. Upon the conclusion of the event at 2:30 pm, girls and their families are free to spend more time in Niabi Zoo until it closes at 5:00 pm.
