Riding High (level 6)

Conestoga

July 21 - July 30

Travel to a sister Girl Scout camp near Nashville, Tenn., for some different types of riding. Girls will learn to ride English style in preparation for jumping horses over obstacles in their spacious indoor arena. Try vaulting,(acrobatics on horseback), as well as advanced games and other activities. Girls will take a break from riding to test themselves on their high ropes course including the flying squirrel. Plan on a couple of evenings relaxing in the swimming pool at camp. Sleep in their new bunkhouse, complete with modern bathrooms and showers, and enjoy caring for their 40-horse herd in a brand new barn. Then return to Conestoga in time to ride an old favorite and enjoy some other fun activities at camp. Prerequisite: Successful completion of Level 5 camp at Conestoga or Little Cloud or at least 35 hours of riding experience and pass a riding test for advanced placement. Must meet age requirements, saddle and bridle a horse independently, and control a horse at a walk, jog, and lope in designated pattern with good balance and control. For questions or to schedule a riding test contact Jo Dumar at 563-349-6149 or JoanneD@GirlScoutsToday.org.
