Quad Cities Young Women of Achievement

Recipients will be honored at An Evening with Shawn Johnson

This annual event recognizes young women between ages 17 and 23 in the greater Quad Cities community who have shown outstanding academic achievement, excellence in leadership, and a commitment to their community through service.

This year’s recipients will be honored on June 13 at An Evening with Shawn Johnson hosted by Girl Scouts and Women’s Connection.  An Evening with Shawn Johnson features special guest, Olympic Gold Medal winner Shawn Johnson.

Shawn, joined by her mother, Teri Johnson, will speak on the topic “Believe in Your Dreams,” highlighting:

  • The imperative to raise girls and young women with high self-esteem
  • Developing the courage necessary to be true to yourself and your dreams
  • The challenges and blessings of the mother-daughter relationship

Hear Shawn’s insight on maintaining balance and character while gaining international Olympic fame at the age of 16, and her stories about her two seasons on Dancing with the Stars

Cedar Valley Young Women of Achievement

Nominate an outstanding Young Woman Today

Nominate an outstanding young woman today for the 2013 Young Women of Achievement recognition, sponsored by the Girl Scouts of Eastern Iowa & Western Illinois and  Cedar Falls Business and Professional Women.

This annual event will recognize five young women between ages 17 and 23 in the Cedar Falls and Waterloo communities who have shown outstanding academic achievement, excellence in leadership, and a commitment to their community through service.

Nominations will be accepted through April 12. Honorees will be selected by May 1. Nominees are not required to be a Girl Scout.

The recipients will be honored at the Young Women of Achievement reception June 20.

Bridging the Generations: Young Women of Achievement/Woman of Distinction

The Girl Scouts of Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois proudly announce the recipients of Burlington’s 2012 Young Women of Achievement awards.

In celebration of the 100th anniversary of Girl Scouts, the recipients were honored at a dinner event, along with past recipients of the Woman of Distinction honor.

Five young women between the ages of 17 and 23 were selected as 2012 honorees, based on their academic achievement, leadership and community service. They were recognized at a dinner event on Thursday, June 21, at Pzazz! in Burlington.

The 2012 Young Women of Achievement honorees are:
