Welcome to the new and improved Council Patch program! The council patches are earned awards that are unique to the Girl Scouts of Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois. Groups and individual girls can enhance their Girl Scout experience by participating in council patch programs. These unique patches provide an opportunity to explore specific themes through fun and educational hands-on activities.
This program is a partnership with the American Heart Association and is for girls who love their hearts. As girls work towards earning this patch, they will learn about heart health and making healthy choices, and how to share the message with others. This program is designed for Daisies, Brownies and Juniors.
Laura Ingalls Wilder was a teacher, an author and a pioneer. As girls work on this patch, they will learn about history, what it was like to be a girl on the prairie in the 1800’s, and why Laura’s life story is important today. This program is for girls of all ages.
From Starr’s Cave to Spook Cave and all destinations between, our council is home to a wide variety of geological wonders. This patch offers girls the chance to learn about caves and explore those within our council boundaries. Girls will learn different types of caves, how they are formed and how to be safe while exploring. This program is designed for Juniors, Cadettes, Seniors and Ambassadors. Be sure to check the Safety Activity Checkpoints before exploring!
The American Bald Eagle has made an astounding comeback from near extinction and can now be found throughout our council. This program will help girls learn about bald eagles, their history as our Nation’s Symbol of Freedom, and how their presence impacts our local communities. This program is for girls of all ages.
