Then and Now

Take a look at the decades of Girl Scouts! Many things have changed! Girls didn’t run, swim or wear pants. It took some courageous girls and women to make changes and ask hard questions about why girls didn’t have the same opportunities as boys. Find out how things have changed over the past hundred years. We’ve got Then and Nows for Brownies, Juniors and Cadettes-Seniors-Ambassadors. You need to do six activities from both the Then and Now categories, and you can earn a candle for your 100th anniversary cake patch.

Service Unit

We have a milestone to celebrate, and it is important that we share the impact Girl Scouts has had and continues to have on our communities. Who better to do that than our service units? We have put together a service unit packet to help you celebrate. The packet includes a variety of events, activities and information to plan, as well as information about a community girl’s chorus, a 100th anniversary play, and more.

Promise Circle Event Planning Booklet

We have a new resource to help plan for a Promise Circle event. It includes an agenda, a link to the historic phone call, and information about a special Promise Circle patch.

100th Anniversary Play

Carolyn Ellenberger, a Girl Scout volunteer from Indiana, wrote and produced an original play that tells the story of Girl Scouting, beginning with Juliette Low’s historical call to her cousin Nina and continuing through the many years that Girl Scouting has been building leadership in girls. If you would like a copy of the play to do in your service unit or area, email 100@GirlScoutsToday.org.
